As part of the UX Design & Research team within our Digital organization, the UX research manager leads a team focused on generative and evaluative research and insight delivery across customer and partner experiences. This role drives best-in-class research across Starbucks' global digital ecosystem, influencing experiences for millions of customers and partners. You'll lead a team that transforms insights into strategic decisions, shaping the future of retail and digital engagement.
As a UX research manager, you will...
  • Manage and grow a diverse and inclusive team of UX researchers, focusing on customer and partner digital products
  • Oversee generative and evaluative research across several product portfolios and initiatives
  • Partner closely with coffeehouse operations leads, designers, product managers, and engineers to guide approach and research strategy
  • Continuously advocate for our customers and partners-sharing evidence of user needs with the digital team, operations partners and other stakeholders
  • Ensure research findings from the team are clear, timely, and actionable
  • Be a champion of change through action-improve research operations, tooling, and workflows
  • Coach and uplevel researchers on methodology, storytelling, and stakeholder engagement
  • Co-create and support our broader research strategy under the Director of Research & Strategy
  • Advocate and exemplify our company values of Craft, Results, Courage, Belonging and Joy everyday

We'd love to hear from people with:
  • Minimum of 7 years of UX research experience, including empathetic people management and mentorship
  • Rock-solid foundation in evaluative and generative research methods and an endless bag of tips and tricks to problem solve
  • Ability to manage multiple workstreams and stakeholders
  • Strong communication and synthesis skills
  • Prefer background in retail, eCommerce, hospitality, and food & beverage
  • Experience working with design-led and human-centric design focused organizations preferred
  • Experience in testing operation or production-line focused experiences and tools ideal
  • Prefer previous experience with agency and vendor partnership experience-accelerating testing with external collaborators and temporary staff

*If you are working in CA, CO, IL, LA, ME, MA, NE, ND or RI, you will accrue vacation up to a maximum of 120 hours (190 in CA) for roles below director and 200 hours (316 in CA) for roles at director or above. For roles in other states, you will be granted vacation time starting at 120 hours annually for roles below director and 200 hours annually for roles director and above.
The actual base pay offered to the successful candidate will be based on multiple factors, including but not limited to job-related knowledge/skills, experience, geographical location, and internal equity. At Starbucks, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at the high end of the range for their role, and compensation decisions are dependent upon the facts and circumstances of each position and candidate.
