Job description

The Compliance Specialist will join a reputable and well-equipped Compliance team which supports occupancy and compliance efforts for 400+ affordable apartment communities nationwide. This teammate will be a problem-solver, have affordable housing compliance experience, and must be able to occasionally travel and work on-site.


1. Approve move-in applications
2. Review and approve HUD program violations
3. Review a percentage of all recertifications
4. Process and submit timely all required monthly, quarterly and annual compliance reporting.
5. Approve move in applications for program eligibility as needed.
6. Oversee the rent-up of new properties or acquisition/rehab sites; organize and submit first year files to agencies, syndicators, investors and make any recommended corrections to those files when requested.
7. Store both electronic and physical copies of first year files appropriately.


Required Experience:

Minimum of two years of experience in a similar position or a background in the banking or similar industry is highly desirable. Prior Affordable Housing experience as well as knowledge of Affordable Housing Programs is a plus.


Required Education/Training:
High school diploma required. Certifications already held in affordable housing compliance (HUD, LIHTC, USDA-RD, HOME, blended occupancy) are highly desirable. Certification in one or more programs will be required within one year of employment.

Required Skills and Abilities:

Strong math and data entry skills, highly organized and detail oriented, excellent communication skills, basic accounting knowledge a plus.

Working Conditions:
Pleasant and spacious environment. Occasional overnight travel and overtime required.

Salary Range Information:

The range displayed on each job posting reflects the targeted base salary for the position. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
