Job description

What you will do:

The Streetcar Operations Control Center (SCC) Supervisor plays a pivotal role in supervising DC Streetcar operations and train movements along the H Street and Benning Road corridor. Using communications equipment, our SCC team ensures the smooth flow of streetcar services 24/7. We are looking for a dedicated SCC Supervisor who shares our commitment to safety and efficiency.

How you will make an impact:

  • Safety First:Safety is at the core of what we do. As SCC Supervisor, you will champion safety principles and ensure they are upheld throughout our operations.
  • Leadership:Take the reins of day-to-day operations, coordinating the activities of our operations and maintenance personnel. Your leadership will guide the team toward success.
  • Union Experience:Your experience in a union environment will be valuable as you navigate collective bargaining agreements and ensure a harmonious work environment.
  • Performance Evaluation:Evaluate the work of operators, providing guidance and discipline when necessary to maintain high standards.
  • Administrative Duties:Handle administrative tasks such as employee attendance, reports, procedures, and electronic records to keep operations running smoothly.

How you will grab our attention:

  • High School Diploma required. Associates/Vocational Training or equivalent experience preferred.
  • Minimum 5+ years in Transit or similar operations.
  • Demonstrated supervisory or lead experience in a comparable transit or transportation industry, overseeing related personnel.
  • Technical Proficiency:Expertise with Microsoft Office Suite is a must, along with excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Self-Motivated: We're looking for someone with initiative, who can motivate the team to deliver safe and efficient public transit services.
  • Knowledgeable:Quickly acquire comprehensive knowledge of DC Streetcar's policies and procedures.
  • Multi-Tasker:Juggle multiple tasks, ensuring continuity of operations and service delivery even during disruptions and emergencies.
  • Adaptability:Rapidly acquire proficiency in various rail transit software applications, including Kronos, Swiftly, Trapeze Enterprise Asset Management (EAM), and Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA).
  • Effective Communicator:Utilize radio communications equipment with professionalism and maintain composure and etiquette.
  • Ability to pass a drug screening, DOT physical examination and background check.
