POSITION SUMMARY:
The Hockey Program Director is responsible for developing and managing the entire scope of hockey related activities, such as leagues, events, Learn-to-Play, hockey camps/clinics, teams, as well as oversee the recruitment and training of hockey instructors and scorekeepers. This position is responsible for creating a first-class programming experience for all participants, coaches, officials, and spectators across all our offerings. This role will work closely with outside event owners, league officials, and other leaders to successfully accomplish these responsibilities.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING:
  • Directly align with the SFM Statement and Core Values
  • Oversee the development and execution of all aspects of hockey programming; ensure managers and coordinators provide effective training, workflow structure, and leadership for hockey programming
  • Oversee the recruitment, training, and development of hockey coaches; actively recruit new players and teams
  • Oversee the development and effective management of program budgets and maintenance of registration goals; monitor performance metrics to drive accountability and success
  • Ensure all aspects of the program/camp registration process are effectively managed; ensure an efficient purchasing/registration experience is in place for all programming customers
  • Oversee all program league and post-season play scheduling; ensure a fair and competitive playing experience for all participants
  • Oversee the scheduling to ensure fair and adequate ice times across all programs with no conflicts or overlaps
  • Oversee guest engagement strategies, ensuring consistent, effective communication that enhances relationships, elevates the guest experience, and aligns with organizational goals
  • Ensure teams and guests keep locker room neat and clean
  • Ensure department leaders are maintaining a clean and safe environment for guests and team members
  • Ensure department leaders are continuously develop programming that targets various markets ranging from corporate, group, adult, youth, family, and special interest groups; maximizing utilization and positive impact within the community
  • Ensure effective collaboration across all departments to support all programming/camp campaign efforts within the venue
  • Serve as MOD as necessary
  • Additional duties as assigned by management

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree in recreation or sports management or related field is preferred
  • Experience and success in customer service and programming administration required
  • 5+ years in the hockey industry required
  • USA Hockey Certified Coach required
  • Must have proven track record of developing, marketing, and selling recreational programs
  • Must have experience in programming setup & execution operations
  • Must have knowledge of recreational/facility management software programs
  • Must have excellent interpersonal and problem-solving negotiating skills
  • Must be a team player
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communications skills
  • Must have excellent computer skills, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
  • Must be able to work a flexible work schedule (e.g., nights, weekends, holidays, and long hours)
  • Must possess current CPR/AED/First Aid certification or must be willing to obtain them within 90 days of hire

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds waist high
  • May be required to sit or stand for extended periods of time whether indoors or outdoors, and squat, stoop or bend
  • Will be required to work in cold environments for extended periods of time
  • Will be required to operate a computer
