Description
Kentucky Public Pensions Authority (KPPA) is currently seeking a Graduate Accountant II in the Division ofAccounting/Cash Management. Located in Frankfort, Kentucky, KPPA is responsible for the investment of fundsand administration of pension and health insurance benefits for nearly 444,000 state and local governmentemployees, state police officers, and nonteaching staff of local school boards and regional universities.Daily system activities, including administrative support, investment management, benefits counseling,accounting and payroll functions, and legal services, are performed by a staff of professional employeesworking as the KPPA. KPPA covers three separate systems: Kentucky Employees Retirement Systems (KERS), CountyEmployees Retirement System (CERS), and the State Police Retirement System (SPRS).
This position performs complex accounting duties such as developing and/or modifying accounting systems forKPPA including multiple account reconciliations with custodial and depository banks; and performs other dutiesas required.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
  • Works independently reconciling the bank to the General Ledger daily to include creating cash receiptsfor electronic deposits that post to our accounts. Reconciles the General Ledger to Finance monthly.
  • Responsible for creating the daily qualification of funds received and transferring qualified fundsfrom our depository bank to our custodial bank for investment.
  • Approves all General Accounting Expenditure (GAX) documents in eMARS.
  • Approves setup of all Investment Purchase System (IPS) contracts.
  • Works closely with Investments to ensure that all Capital Calls and transfers are initiated andapproved in a timely manner.
Skills and Expectations include but are not limited to the following:
  • Accounting/Finance experience.
  • Software knowledge- Microsoft Office, proficient in Microsoft Excel, eMARS, Great Plains, Workiva, etc.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Analytical and critical cognitive skills.

Minimum Requirements
EDUCATION:Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree (which includes twenty semester hours or thirty quarter hours in accounting).
EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS:One year of professional accounting experience.
Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE:NONE
Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION:Professional experience in Kentucky State Government accounting will substitute for the education on a year- for-year basis.
