Job description

Med/ Run Driver Part-Time
Under the direct supervision of the Transportation Coordinator, the Driver/Med Runner is responsible for the safe and punctual transportation of clients in LIFE, Inc. programs. The Driver/Med Runner is primarily responsible for all medical and recreational appointments. The Driver/Med Runner provides medical professionals with all needed information/paperwork and obtains and relays all information from medical professionals visited. The Driver/Med Runner assures that all information is documented and completed promptly. The Driver/Med Runner is also responsible for routine care and cleanliness of the vehicle.
Pay Rate: $18.00 /hr.
Available Schedule: 20 hours/week, Mon - Fri 4 hours /day
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Transports clients from day program or residence to designated destination on an as needed basis.
  • Represents the agency in a professional manner in all interactions.
  • Provides all pertinent information to the medical professional regarding the medical condition and/or concerns.
  • Responsible for taking the Tablet to all medical appointments and ensuring that the Tablet is charged and in working condition
  • Prior to leaving the physician's office, reviews materials to ensure that relevant paperwork (medical appointment forms, PMOFs, TD Scales, etc.) is complete, including the dating and signing of all documents by the physician.
  • After the medical appointment ensures that all medical paperwork is submitted to the office, home or nursing staff.
  • Notifies scheduler or designee twenty-four hours in advance if unable to transport client as assigned.
  • Responsible for contacting the office for additional information when needed by the physician.
  • Responsible for getting routine maintenance completed on assigned vehicle on a specific schedule.
  • Ensures vehicle is clean and odor-free, inside and out and that tires are properly inflated.
  • Responsible for completion and submission of weekly vehicle-related paperwork (i.e. mileage log).
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or GED certificate.
  • Experience working with D.D. clients and/or strong evidence of aptitudes and abilities that would allow one to meet the responsibilities and duties described above.
Other Requirements
  • A valid Maryland Driver's License (not provisional) with two points or less on your Maryland driving record during your employment with LIFE Incorporated.
  • Access to reliable transportation
  • Successfully pass drug screen and background check.
Certifications:
  • Obtain CPR & First Aid Certifications during 90-day probationary period. Maintains updated certifications throughout employment.
  • Completes DDA trainings per regulations and LIFE Incorporated policies
Physical/Mental Demands
  • The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job, not exhaustive.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate clearly and accurately.
  • Able to lift 40 lbs.
  • Ability to sit for 2 or more hours
  • Stooping, bending
  • Pushing and maneuvering wheelchairs
  • Wheel-chair transfers
  • Standing for approximately ½ hour or more
