Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a CVICU position requiring 2+ years of cardiac ICU experience and Epic proficiency.

Details
  • Work in the Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) of a hospital environment
  • Cardiac surgery and cardiovascular patient population, including post cardiac surgery, CABG, TAVR, and valve repair/replacement cases
  • Estimated patient ratios of 1:1-2
  • 13-week assignment with day (7:00-19:30) or night (19:00-7:30) shifts, 3x12 hours, 36 hours per week
  • Weekday and some weekend shifts required, up to 6 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule period
  • Rotating holiday coverage required
  • Required to float within units of equivalent or lower acuity level
  • Epic EMR experience required
Requirements
  • Active OH or compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration
  • Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
  • 2 years of cardiac ICU experience preferred
  • Teaching hospital experience preferred
  • Nursing education from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program required
  • Skills required: IV starts, telemetry monitoring, ventilator management, Swan-Ganz/PA line monitoring, conscious sedation, intra-aortic balloon pump management, and arterial line management
  • Additional skills: central line care, PICC line management, blood product administration, chest tube assist, BiPAP/CPAP management, ABG interpretation, and titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips
  • 2 professional references required, with at least 1 from a Manager/Director or formal leadership role and no coworker references accepted
Additional Information
  • Provide critical care nursing to cardiovascular ICU patients, including care for those with IABP, PA lines, and ventilator support
  • Cardiac monitoring and emergency response duties, including interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
  • Previous travel experience preferred but not required, and first-time travelers may be considered
  • Locals accepted at the same rate
  • RTO must be submitted with application and built into the contract, limited to 7 days or less
  • Former employees eligible for travel assignment after being away from the facility for 6 months or more
  • Current employees of the health system are ineligible for a travel assignment
  • Ohio fingerprinting process must be completed urgently upon signing contract; candidates outside Ohio but within driving distance must travel to a fingerprinting location, while those at extreme distances will be mailed a fingerprinting packet
