Project Controls Scheduler

Overview

An established commercial construction firm is seeking a Project Controls Scheduler to support the planning, scheduling, and execution of multiple commercial construction projects. This role is responsible for developing, maintaining, and analyzing project schedules that drive successful project delivery while ensuring alignment between field operations, project management, and executive leadership.

The company is known for delivering complex commercial projects through collaboration, operational excellence, and a commitment to proactive project planning. This is an excellent opportunity for a scheduling professional who enjoys building accurate project plans, identifying risks before they impact production, and helping project teams execute efficiently.

The Role

The Project Controls Scheduler will own project scheduling across multiple active commercial construction projects, developing detailed Primavera P6 schedules, monitoring critical path activities, and supporting project teams with schedule forecasting and reporting. Success in this role means providing accurate, actionable scheduling information that helps projects stay on schedule while improving communication and coordination across all stakeholders.

This role partners closely with Project Managers, Superintendents, Estimators, and Operations leadership throughout the project lifecycle.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain, and update Primavera P6 schedules for multiple commercial construction projects.
  • Create and maintain detailed Work Breakdown Structures (WBS) to support project planning and execution.
  • Monitor critical path activities and identify schedule risks, delays, and sequencing conflicts.
  • Analyze project schedules for logic errors, workflow inefficiencies, and opportunities to improve execution.
  • Coordinate schedule updates with Project Managers, Superintendents, subcontractors, and project teams.
  • Develop short-term and long-term schedule forecasts to support project planning and resource allocation.
  • Prepare schedule reports and progress updates for project teams and executive leadership.
  • Assist with project planning, schedule recovery efforts, and delay analysis when required.
  • Ensure schedules accurately reflect construction sequencing, procurement activities, and project milestones.
  • Support continuous improvement of scheduling standards and project controls processes.

Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years of Primavera P6 scheduling experience.
  • Minimum 3 years working for a commercial general contractor or subcontractor.
  • Strong understanding of Critical Path Method (CPM) scheduling.
  • Experience developing and maintaining Work Breakdown Structures (WBS).
  • Ability to review and analyze project schedules for sequencing, logic, and workflow issues.
  • Experience managing multiple project schedules simultaneously.
  • Strong knowledge of commercial construction sequencing and project execution.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and schedule reporting.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
