Their duties include preparing patients for procedures, assisting surgeons in the operating room, monitoring patient vital signs, administering medications, and offering post-operative care and instructions. They play a critical role in ensuring patient safety, comfort, and successful surgical outcomes. Additionally, they may educate patients and families about recovery and eye care following surgery.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an Eye Surgery Center RN?

To thrive as an Eye Surgery Center RN, you need a current RN license, expertise in perioperative care, and knowledge of ophthalmic procedures. Familiarity with surgical instruments, electronic health records (EHRs), and infection control protocols is typically required. Strong attention to detail, patient communication, and the ability to remain calm under pressure are standout soft skills. These capabilities are vital to ensure patient safety, support surgical teams, and deliver high-quality care in a fast-paced surgical environment.

What are some common challenges that Eye Surgery Center RNs face during a typical workday?

Eye Surgery Center RNs often work in a fast-paced environment where cases can change quickly and patient turnover is high.
