Job Description

TITLE: Intervention Specialist   SALARY: Per the Warrensville Heights City School District's collective bargaining agreement with Warrensville Education Association.     DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Teaches skills utilizing course of study adopted by the Board of Education and other appropriate learning activities
  2. Provide instruction as indicated by individual students' IEP (Individual Education Program)
  3. Develop and implement IEP's on an annual basis following federal and state guidelines
  4. Develop creative/innovative intervention strategies to remediate student's particular behaviors
  5. Knowledge and experience working with students with special needs
  6. Instructs pupils in subject matter specific in state law and administrative regulations and procedures of the school district
  7. Adapts material and methods to develop relevant sequential assignments that guide and challenge pupils
  8. Ability to use the ETR/IEP information to prepare and carry out clear, daily lesson plans individualized for each child
  9. Adapts the curriculum to provide individual, small group or remedial instruction to meet the needs of the individual pupil
  10. Encourages pupils to think independently and to express original ideas
  11. Establishes and maintains standards of pupil behavior needed to provide an orderly, productive classroom environment
  12. Identifies pupil needs and cooperates with other professional staff members in assessing and helping pupils solve health, attitude and learning problems
  13. Communicates with parents and other concerned individuals on pupil progress
  14. Supervises pupils in out-of-classroom activities during the assigned working day
  15. Administers or monitors group tests
  16. Participates in curriculum and other developmental programs
  17. Maintains professional competence through in-service education activities provided by the district and in self-selected professional growth activities
  18. Seeks to involve parents/corporation/industry and community in education of youth.


 

    QUALIFICATIONS:
  1. Valid Ohio  Intervention Specialist teaching certificate
  2. Evidence of exemplary classroom teaching experience
  3. A special commitment to helping urban students to succeed; with an emphasis on urban schools representing a variety of socioeconomic levels, racial and ethnic backgrounds
  4. Demonstrated ability to work harmoniously with administrators, teachers, parents and community/corporate groups
  5. Ability to work well as part of an interdisciplinary team
  6. Willingness to spend the additional time needed to effectively meet the challenges, objectives, and purposed of the school
