Job description

The Wireless Infrastructure Association is seeking a commercially driven and relationship-oriented Sales & Business Development Associate to join its Meetings & Events team.

This role will be responsible for developing new business and growing existing accounts across WIAโ€™s portfolio of in-person events and year-round digital products. Solutions may include sponsorships, exhibit opportunities, advertising, webinars, research, thought-leadership content and integrated event and digital partnerships.

The successful candidate will take a consultative approach to sales, working with companies to understand their business objectives, target audiences and market priorities before recommending the most relevant opportunities across WIAโ€™s portfolio.

We offer competitive pay and strong benefits. The salary range for this position is $70,000 to $80,000 annually, based on experience and qualifications. WIA also offers a hybrid work environment, generous time off, support for professional development, volunteer opportunities, a Metro-accessible location in Arlington, VA with transit support, and wellness resources, because we believe doing great work starts with taking care of our team.

This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious sales professional with approximately two to three years of experience who is ready to take greater ownership of client relationships, revenue generation and business development within a growing and strategically important industry.

Responsibilities:

Sales & Business Development

  • Generate new revenue through the sale of sponsorships, exhibit space, advertising, digital products and integrated partnership packages.
  • Identify and develop new business opportunities across the wireless, telecommunications and broader digital infrastructure ecosystem.
  • Manage the full sales cycle, from prospecting and initial outreach through discovery, proposal development, negotiation, contracting and close.
  • Conduct consultative discovery conversations to understand prospective clientsโ€™ commercial objectives, audiences, challenges and priorities.
  • Develop tailored recommendations and proposals that connect client goals with relevant WIA products and opportunities.
  • Maintain a consistent pipeline of qualified opportunities and proactively move prospects through the sales process.
  • Meet or exceed individual revenue, activity and pipeline targets.

Account Management

  • Build trusted relationships with sponsors, exhibitors, advertisers and industry partners.
  • Grow existing accounts through thoughtful upselling, cross-selling and year-round engagement.
  • Develop a strong understanding of each assigned accountโ€™s business model, market position, target customers and strategic priorities.
  • Support account planning and renewal strategies for key clients.
  • Ensure clients receive a professional, responsive and high-quality experience throughout the sales and delivery process.

Sales Operations & Collaboration

  • Maintain accurate and timely records of activities, opportunities, contacts and next steps within WIAโ€™s CRM.
  • Collaborate closely with colleagues across Meetings & Events, Marketing and Communications, Membership, Finance and Operations.
  • Participate in regular sales meetings, pipeline reviews, account-planning sessions and product-development discussions.
  • Represent WIA professionally at Connect (X), other WIA events and relevant external industry events.
  • Support onsite sponsor and exhibitor engagement, relationship development and rebooking activity.

Qualifications

  • Approximately two to three years of experience in B2B sales, business development, account management, or a related commercial role.
  •  Experience selling events, sponsorships, advertising, media, digital marketing products, memberships, or other intangible business solutions is strongly preferred.
  •  Demonstrated experience managing prospects through multiple stages of a sales process.
  •  Evidence of achieving or contributing to revenue targets.
  •  Experience conducting client discovery calls and developing tailored commercial proposals.
  •  Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  •  Confidence communicating with stakeholders at different levels, including senior executives.
  •  Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple opportunities, deadlines and client requests simultaneously.
  • Experience using a CRM platform, preferably HubSpot, Salesforce or a comparable system.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office or Google Workspace, including presentation and spreadsheet tools.
  • Bachelorโ€™s degree or equivalent professional experience preferred.
