Job Description

The Operations Supervisor is a critical role in ensuring that McGee Air Services delivers best in class ground handling services.  The operational supervisor is charged with monitoring the performance of the operation, supervising McGee Teammates, and building an environment where safety, team member engagement and operational performance are paramount.   

The Operations Supervisor anticipates operational needs, makes required adjustments to respond to challenges, and provides the team and leadership with information to ensure a successful operation.  This role collects operational and safety information and translates it into various briefings, in time report outs and formal reporting for team members, leadership, and customers. As a leader within our operational team, we expect the Operations Supervisor(s) to engage in honest two-way communication with our staff to promote a safe, well-run operation and a promote a positive work environment for our teammates. 

Operational Supervisors will be hired into specific functional areas, such as Ramp, Fleet, Safety etc. As such, the specifics of the job will vary across the functional areas, but the below responsibilities and qualification are required and expected for any Operational Supervisors. 

  • Establish and maintain a culture that encourages communication, where all team members feel valued, connected, and engaged in the success of the operation. 
  • Dispatch, assign work, monitor ramp operations, fleet performance, and baggage transfer operations. 
  • Coaches, guides, and mentors team members to ensure safety and operational metrics are met.  
  • Prepare and present safety and operational briefings both internally to McGee and externally to our customers.  
  • Partner with other supervisors and leadership to ensure effective balancing of tasks and coverage. 
  • Act as liaison between McGee Air Services and customers. 
  • Represents McGee in briefings with customer Managers on Duty to plan for Irregular Operations, tows, extra flights, and other special situations. 
  • Conduct investigations and collect required information on operational/safety metrics. 
  • Assists in safety incidents as well as ensuring documented follow-ups, lessoned learned, mitigations and corrective action plans are documented, managed, and implemented. 
  • Actively observes operation to identify areas of improvement in both safety, training, and operations. 
  • Prepare and communicate various performance reports to team members and leadership, including shift reports, performance data, missed metric summaries/investigations, mitigation plans, safety incidents, equipment status, and staffing information 
  • Monitor staffing during start times and coordinate, support, and communicate re-balancing of operational crews. 
  • Perform required audits, investigations, and participates in/leads any disciplinary actions. 
  • Evaluate individual and teamwork performance, coach, and counsel to support employee growth and operational performance, and document discussions and improvement plans. 
  • Promote and maintain a culture of safety and mutual respect at all times.  
  • Responsible for ensuring that equipment is available, maintained, and operated in a safe manner, to include daily inspections and removal from service when necessary 
  • Foster an inclusive, engaging, and high-performance culture that always demonstrates McGee’s values. 
  • Recognize and celebrate individual and team performance 
  • Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
  • Two (2) years of airline experience with proven skills in station operations, including one of the following areas: passenger service, cargo handling, fleet service, and ground operations preferred 
  • Highly self-motivated with the ability to juggle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment 
  • Excellent communication skills 
  • Ability to diffuse tense and/or stressful situations and workplace conflicts 
  • Experience coaching and counseling team members on performance related issues preferred 
  • Skilled in all aspects of aircraft servicing, loading, baggage and cargo handling 
  • Self-motivated individual able to work collaboratively in a team environment 
  • Able to lead, motivate, and successfully communicate with a diverse workgroup 
  • Proven ability to direct the work of others in a positive way 
  • Ability to obtain and maintain airport security clearance, customs seal, and/or USPS security clearance including background criminal history check, drug screen and fingerprinting 
  • Ability to lift up to 75 pounds on a frequent basis  
  • Ability to push wheelchair with passenger who may weigh over 200 pounds  
  • Flexibility to work varied shifts, weekends, and holidays  
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred 
  • Must be at least 18 years of age 
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.

Airport Badge Requirements

Important notification for roles working at or requiring access to an airport or maintenance hangar: Employees will be required to obtain and maintain a SIDA badge issued by the airport authority.  Depending on the role you may also be required to obtain a US Customs seal and/or USPS security clearance. If an employee does not qualify for or has the necessary clearance revoked, the employee will be terminated.
