Solid Rock Recruiting has partnered with a well-established, privately-held drywall contractor in the Hartford market to find a detail-oriented Commercial Drywall Estimator. Operating with a lean, high-performing team and a reputation for stability, our client values a "quality over speed" mindset and is looking for an individual who desires long-term professional growth.

The Opportunity

Join a respected industry leader specializing in open-shop commercial projects ranging from tenant fit-outs to large-scale interior/exterior packages. As an Estimator, you will play a critical role in the company's continued success, handling diverse bids for metal framing, drywall, and specialty exterior systems.

What You'll Do
  • Accurate Estimating: Prepare competitive bids for projects ranging from small-scale renovations to comprehensive interior/exterior packages.

  • Technical Proficiency: Perform detailed digital takeoffs for metal stud framing, drywall, sheathing, and vapor barriers.

  • Project Collaboration: Support Project Managers on large bulletins, addenda, and change orders to ensure financial precision.

  • Business Development: Attend scope reviews and proactively pursue work; this role requires a professional who can "sell" the firm’s capabilities to GCs, not just crunch numbers.

  • Digital Mastery: Utilize On-Screen Takeoff (OST) and Quick Bid to produce high-level cost analyses.

What We're Looking For
  • Experience: 5–12+ years of commercial drywall estimating experience.

  • Market Knowledge: Preference for candidates with experience in the local Connecticut/Hartford market.

  • Software Skills: Mastery of On-Center Software (OST & Quick Bid) is required.

  • Stability: A proven track record of career longevity and professional reliability.

  • Drive: A self-motivated, detail-oriented individual who is persistent with follow-ups and ambitious enough to grow into future leadership.

  • Background: Open-shop experience is preferred; union backgrounds are welcome to apply.

Why Join This Team?
  • Owner Accessibility: Work in a personal, flexible culture where the owners are accessible and involved in the day-to-day success of the team.

  • Work-Life Balance: Enjoy a consistent schedule with early Friday afternoons (7:30–3:00) to kick off the weekend.

  • Succession Planning: This position is designed for someone looking for a "home" where they can eventually move into leadership roles.
