Job description

UPS Field Service Engineer III
Atlanta, GA | Home-Based / Field Deployment | Full-Time | Senior Level

Bloom Talent Solutions specializes in placing top-tier professionals with high-growth, industry-leading companies. We are proud to present this exclusive senior-level opportunity on behalf of a privately owned critical power services company with a strong presence across the Southeast.

This role is built for the engineer who's been in the field long enough to have seen everything — and who can walk into a complex situation, size it up, and handle it independently. No hand-holding. No corporate layers. Just real, varied work at a company where your experience is valued from day one and your contribution is immediately visible.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform commissioning, preventive maintenance, emergency response, and field modifications on UPS systems, batteries, PDUs, STS, and related critical power equipment
  • Lead commissioning-focused design reviews, prepare test procedures and reports, and oversee on-site testing
  • Independently troubleshoot complex equipment failures across multiple OEM platforms including Eaton, Schneider/Vertiv, Mitsubishi, ABB, and Toshiba
  • Develop and execute Methods of Procedures (MOPs) for both scheduled and emergency work
  • Coordinate with technical support to resolve maintenance or operational issues beyond field resolution
  • Complete Field Service Reports promptly and provide proactive, client-facing recommendations
  • Serve as a technical escalation point and mentor for FSE I and FSE II engineers in the region
  • Participate in periodic training at company headquarters on new equipment and system rebuilds

Qualifications

Required

  • 8–15+ years of hands-on experience specifically in UPS and critical power systems — general field service does not transfer
  • Multi-platform proficiency across Eaton, Schneider/APC/MGE, Vertiv/Liebert/Emerson, Mitsubishi, Toshiba, and ABB equipment
  • Demonstrated ability to independently walk into complex troubleshooting situations and resolve them without guidance
  • Proficient with hand tools and test equipment for maintenance, repair, and commissioning
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills — this is a client-facing role
  • Ability to work independently with sound judgment, resourcefulness, and initiative
  • Willingness to work nights, weekends, and on-call rotations as required
  • Physically capable of repeated bending and lifting up to 100 lbs
  • Clean driving record

Preferred

  • OEM factory training or direct employment history with Eaton, Schneider, Vertiv, Mitsubishi, or ABB
  • Experience at an independent or third-party UPS service provider (DC Group, Unified Power, Quality Uptime, or similar)
  • Technical degree from DeVry, Lincoln Tech, or equivalent program
  • Military veterans with electrical/mechanical systems experience are strongly encouraged to apply (Navy EMN/ETN/MMN, Army Power Generation, Air Force Power Production)

If you've put in the years, built the multi-platform expertise, and you're ready for a role where your skills are front and center — this is it. We'd love to connect.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Compensation is market-competitive and follows the candidate — bring your number
  • Comprehensive benefits package
  • 401(k) with company match
  • Vehicle allowance and gas card
  • Home-based position with Atlanta, GA territory
  • High-visibility role with direct access to senior leadership
