Job Description Job Title: Critical Power / UPS Service Technician Location: Greater Houston area (preferred) - Candidates from outside Houston with direct competitor experience may also be considered. Employment Type: Full-Time Why This Role Stands Out: Overtime after 8 hours daily (even if under 40 weekly). Double time after 12 hours daily.

Weekends are always time-and-a-half. Current technicians average 50-60 hours weekly. Overview: We are seeking a skilled Critical Power Service Technician to join a growing team supporting mission-critical operations.

This role involves servicing, maintaining, and repairing UPS systems, batteries, and related infrastructure that keep data centers, hospitals, telecom facilities, and other essential operations running without interruption. Key Responsibilities: Perform installation, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and emergency repairs on UPS systems, batteries, generators, and associated power equipment. Conduct start-up testing, commissioning reviews, and equipment upgrades.

Interpret schematics and apply advanced troubleshooting techniques to minimize downtime and prevent outages. Complete service requests and work orders with a strong focus on quality, accuracy, and customer service. Communicate effectively with clients to explain technical findings, resolve issues, and build trust.

Develop and follow Methods of Procedures (MOPs) and Scopes of Work (SOWs) for field operations. Provide training to customers and junior technicians, both in-field and in classroom-style sessions. Collaborate with internal teams and external vendors to ensure reliable service delivery.

Participate in emergency response situations and occasional in-house training or equipment rebuilding projects when not on active service calls. Qualifications: Minimum of 2 years of experience with critical power systems, UPS systems, batteries, or electronics (coursework and internships count). High school diploma or GED required; trade school certificate in Electrical Technology preferred but not mandatory.

Strong ability to read and interpret schematics, and experience using diagnostic tools. Solid background in troubleshooting and repairing electrical or electronic systems. Valid driver's license with ability to meet client site access requirements (background checks, drug screenings, etc.)

Willingness to travel and work weekends as needed. Preferred Experience: Previous field service experience with UPS systems, data centers, healthcare facilities, or industrial critical power environments. Experience developing or executing commissioning test procedures.

Prior work with competitor service providers in the UPS/critical power industry.
