Job description

Essential HVAC Installer Duties & Responsibilities

The primary function is the installation of new or replacement HVAC systems (furnaces, air conditioners, heat pumps, air handlers, etc.) in residential or commercial settings.

  • System Installation: Installing heating, cooling, and ventilation equipment according to manufacturer specifications and company requirements.

  • Ductwork: Fabricating and installing sheet metal and flex duct systems, vents, and air distribution components.

  • Piping & Wiring: Installing copper refrigerant lines (including brazing and soldering), properly connecting gas lines, and wiring both low and high voltage to the equipment.

  • Blueprint Reading: Interpreting blueprints, schematics, and technical diagrams to plan system layouts and complete installations correctly.

  • Performance Testing: Performing system start-ups and testing performance, checking refrigerant levels, airflow, and calibrating thermostats.

  • Compliance: Ensuring all installations comply with local, state, and federal codes, including proper safety procedures and refrigerant handling regulations.

  • Customer Interaction: Explaining the system operation and maintenance to the customer and ensuring a high level of satisfaction.

  • Logistics: Pre-measuring jobs to determine material needs, verifying, loading, and stocking company vehicles with equipment and parts.
