Charles R. Drew University is located in the Watts-Willowbrook area of south Los Angeles and was founded in 1966 in the wake of the Watts uprising. CDU was founded to address inadequate medical care in the region and to provide equitable medical education opportunities for under-represented students.
CDU offers the only historically black Doctor of Medicine program west of the Mississippi, and is strongly invested in the local and regional community. The university leads multiple partnerships and programs to provide equitable healthcare resources in a variety of south Los Angeles neighborhoods.

Reporting to the Pre‑Licensure Program Director, the Assistant Program Director, Pre‑Licensure provides leadership in the daily operations of the College and supports implementation and maintenance of the nursing program through strategic planning, curriculum development, faculty mentoring, and teaching. In the Director’s absence, the Assistant Program Director assumes responsibility for academic and curricular issues and supervises assigned faculty and staff within the College of Nursing.

• Leadership & Program Administration:
  • In conjunction with the Pre-Licensure Program Director, provides operational and academic leadership
  • Assuming the duties of the Pre-Licensure Program Director in his/her
  • Maintain confidential student files and records documenting all pertinent academic information within the University, upholding FERPA regulations.
  • Respond to student concerns/problems and refer students to appropriate resources, including counseling
  • Ensures processes are in place to track, monitor and record student completion and/or program
  • Monitors NCLEX progression and develops corrective plans.
  • Provides leadership support to the Office of the Dean

  • Ensures that full-time/part-time faculty files are current regarding RN licensure, CPR, malpractice, and health
• Academic Support
  • Participates in curriculum development and evaluation.
  • Assists with outcome tracking and corrective action planning.

Salary: Assistant Professor $115,000 + Administrative Y-Factor $10,000 = $125,000
