Job description
Sometimes the greatest gift we can give someone is simply our time.
Uplift Hospice is looking for compassionate volunteers who would like to become a friend and companion to a hospice patient. Many of our patients experience loneliness and would love to have someone who will sit with them, listen to their stories, share a laugh, or simply enjoy a quiet moment together.
As a Companion Volunteer, you can make a meaningful difference just by being present.
Responsibilities
- Spend meaningful one-on-one time with hospice patients.
- Provide companionship, conversation, and a friendly presence.
- Listen to stories, memories, and experiences.
- Play cards, board games, or other simple activities.
- Read books, watch a favorite television program, or enjoy music together.
- Help patients feel heard, valued, and connected.
- Provide emotional support through kindness, patience, and genuine friendship.
- Respect the patientโs privacy, dignity, and personal preferences.
- Communicate any concerns or significant changes to the Volunteer Coordinator.
