Job description

MACHINIST


JOB PURPOSE:


Perform bench and precision machining operations required for the construction, modification, maintenance, overhaul, and repair of all types of manufacturing facilities including machines, equipment, special purpose, prototype, experimental and similar machines, equipment, models or prototype tools.
MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIRED:
Two years of an accredited Trades School with certification of completion of all course work or equivalent knowledge and skill acquired by means of practical experience
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Two years of work experience (in their Trade)

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS: (Preferred qualifications)
Completion of an accredited trades training course or equivalent knowledge and skill acquired by means of practical experience. Must be able to work any shift or work schedule.


Employees are expected to serve as role models for safe work practices and behaviors. This includes following established health and safety policies and procedures, maintaining a clean, organized work area, wearing protective equipment and properly storing all personal protective equipment (PPE), and actively engaging as a safety conscious worker with personal safety and wellness as a priority.


Skill in operating CNC machinery and tooling as well as precision measurement tools and programming CAD/CAM.
RESPONSIBILITIES:


Independently plan work assignments and perform duties with a minimum of direct supervision.


Train and direct the efforts of plant trades Helpers, Junior Trades Workers and Trades Workers assigned to assist in the performance of the work.


Collaborate with functional personnel in own and other organizations to resolve problems and recommend solutions based on trades knowledge.


Involves diagnosing difficulties using machine and hand tools equipment to perform incidental operations, troubleshooting, proving-in and developing of new procedures and the supplementing of design data to overcome all types of problems and performing necessary associated and related duties. data and inadequate facilities present unusual and difficult problems in checking critical requirements.


Collaborate with functional engineers in supplementing or improving original design, analyze and resolve complex fabrication and prove-in problems; and performing necessary dismantling, re-assembling and necessary associated and related duties including machining, heat treating and specialized welding operations.
