Job description

Position Overview

We are seeking a Story Producer with a strong background in the film, documentary, or unscripted television industry. This individual will play a critical role in shaping the editorial arc of projects—from story development and scripting to post-production narrative refinement.

The ideal candidate is a creative storyteller with exceptional writing skills, editorial judgment, and the ability to transform raw interviews and footage into emotionally resonant, structured content.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with directors, producers, and editors to craft compelling story arcs for short-form and long-form content
  • Write outlines, scripts, VO, and interview questions based on creative briefs and client messaging
  • Review interviews, B-roll, and field footage to identify themes, emotional beats, and narrative threads
  • Pre-screen and interview on-camera talent
  • Shape rough cuts by selecting soundbites and structuring scenes
  • Provide clear creative feedback during the post-production process to maintain story clarity and pacing
  • Conduct background research to support story development and ensure factual accuracy
  • Track story continuity across multiple episodes, versions, or formats
  • Participate in pitch meetings and content brainstorms to help shape future projects
  • Work on a variety of genres, including branded content, doc-style pieces, and unscripted formats

Qualifications

  • 3–5 years of experience as a Story Producer, Segment Producer, or Writer in the film, TV, or digital media industry
  • Strong understanding of documentary-style storytelling, non-linear narrative, and editorial pacing
  • Experience shaping stories from raw interview footage and unscripted material
  • Excellent writing and script-editing skills
  • Ability to collaborate with editors in post and communicate story changes effectively
  • Strong editorial judgment and sensitivity to tone, audience, and subject matter
  • Proficiency with production scripts, story outlines, and post workflows
  • Familiarity with Avid Media Composer or similar editing platforms is a plus
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven creative environment
