Job description

High Voltage is looking for experienced and passionate Unreal Engine 5 Programmers to join our team. This role is a fantastic opportunity for a dedicated engineer to use their extensive knowledge of Unreal Engine and C++ to build robust, high-quality gameplay systems while collaborating with artists, designers and other programmers on our team. If you have a keen analytical mind, a passion for video games, and a history of developing high quality gameplay experiences in UE5 for PC and / or consoles, we want to talk to you!
Here at High Voltage Software, we firmly believe that the best gameplay experiences are the result of collaboration and iteration between gameplay programmers, designers, and artists.
Here are some of the exciting responsibilities you'll have:
  • Collaborate closely with art and design to create and iterate on UE5 based gameplay features
  • Implement core game functionality such as application specific AI, physics, character control, camera management, inventory systems, event handling, UI, etc
  • Improve existing gameplay systems by diagnosing and fixing bugs in networking, rendering, gameplay logic, profile management, world streaming / relevancy and more
  • Design and write robust, well-structured, data-driven code that is easy to maintain and built for long-term use
  • Maintain awareness of state of the art tools & techniques for developing high quality, competitive UE based game applications
  • Write clear technical design and specification documents
  • Contribute ideas toward all aspects of game production and development

Requirements
  • Degree in Computer Science/Engineering or equivalent work experience
  • 2-5+ years of experience working with Unreal Engine 5 in the gaming industry
  • Expert-level proficiency in C++ and UE Blueprints, with a proven ability to architect and code complex gameplay mechanics
  • History of solving complex technical issues and successful UE problem solving
  • Strong math skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to communicate fluently in English (written and verbal)
  • Proficiency with source control, debuggers, profilers, and other software development tools
  • Self-motivated, strong work ethic, and able to work independently
  • Passion for video games
