Job description

Are you interested in the next generation of Space Force Remote Sensing capabilities? The SMX Space and Intelligence (S&I) Business Unit (BU) is on the ground floor across the future remote sensing ecosystem for all orbital regimes (LEO, MEO, HEO, and GEO). We build, integrate, and operationally support our customers' emerging space-ground systems to include real-time data processing frameworks, sensor data processing, and data visualization. We are teamed with the most passionate companies in industry, dedicated to bringing best-of-breed capabilities to address our customers' most pressing needs.
 
We are seeking a Software Engineer with strong C++ and Unreal Engine skills and an interest in people management to work on the FORGE MDPAP program as part of the Visualization subsystem team.
 
Position is on-site in Boulder, CO 5 days per week.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and maintain high-quality software aligned with program and project objectives.
  • Work independently and collaboratively with the development team to deliver complex features end to end.
  • Contribute to containerized, distributed microservice architectures, including development, deployment, and testing.

Required Skills & Experience 

  • This position requires an active Interim DoD Secret Clearance. Clearance required: Active DoD Secret. Due to the clearance requirement, U.S. Citizenship is required. Candidate must also participate in a background screen.
  • 5+ years of professional hands-on experience as a Software Engineer using C++.
  • Proficient in Unreal Engine, including language features and best practices.
  • Professional experience working in Linux environments.
  • Ability to work onsite in Boulder, CO 5 days per week.
  • Strong problem-solving, collaboration, communication and attention to detail skills.

Desired Skills & Experience 

  • Familiarity with other programming languages such as Python or Javascript/Typescript
  • Experience with or interest in people management (up to 5 direct reports).
  • Experience with Agile software development methodology and tools such as Jira and Confluence.
  • Familiarity with Gitlab, Gitlab Runner, Docker, Kubernetes and Helm Charts.
  • Domain experience with remote sensing systems or ground architectures, especially experience with OPIR sensor processing.
  • Experience working on "badge-less" engineering teams on a large National security contract.
