Numen Brothers, LLC seeks to hire a Video Game Design Generalist in Harvey, LA. The position involves 3D asset creation, Unreal Engine 5 integration, and gameplay implementation. The role will involve creating both static and dynamic mesh assets, implementing complex systems within Unreal Engine 5, and ensuring top-quality execution through rigorous quality assurance. Duties include but are not limited to: 3D Static Mesh Asset Creation: Model, texture, and optimize 3D static mesh assets for use in game environments, props, and world-building. Ensure assets are performance-optimized for real-time applications. Collaborate with art directors and environment artists to maintain visual consistency. 3D Dynamic Character Mesh Asset Creation: Model, texture, rig, and animate dynamic character mesh assets (both humanoid and non-humanoid characters). Develop high-quality character rigs and animations for a seamless gameplay experience. Implement facial rigging and animation systems when required. Unreal Engine 5 Integration: Import and integrate both static and dynamic mesh assets into Unreal Engine 5. Use Unreal Engine 5’s Blueprint visual scripting system for gameplay integration, ensuring smooth asset functionality. Collaborate with technical artists and programmers to troubleshoot and optimize assets and workflows. Strand Hair & Cloth Asset Creation: Create strand-based hair and cloth assets, ensuring realistic simulation in Unreal Engine 5. Apply cloth physics systems to assets for lifelike movement and interaction in-game. Collaborate with the animation team to ensure hair and cloth react appropriately with character movements. Scene Assembly & Lighting in Unreal Engine 5: Assemble, optimize, and light in-game scenes within Unreal Engine 5 to create visually compelling environments. Work closely with environment designers to set up the atmosphere, mood, and lighting for both cinematic sequences and gameplay. Ensure scenes are optimized for performance while maintaining visual fidelity. Niagara Special Effects Creation: Design and implement dynamic visual effects using Unreal Engine 5’s Niagara system. Create particle effects such as explosions, weather effects, environmental interactions, and other in-game effects. Ensure the effects are optimized for performance and seamlessly integrate with the game world. Quality Assurance (FQA and PQA): Conduct both Functional Quality Assurance (FQA) and Playable Quality Assurance (PQA) testing for all assets and gameplay elements. Ensure assets meet design specifications and perform correctly in all game scenarios. Identify and troubleshoot any bugs, errors, or performance issues related to assets, animations, and effects. Work closely with the QA team to ensure a polished and bug-free final product. This position requires completion of one year of undergraduate coursework in 3D design and animation or a related field or 24 months of work experience in 3D design and animation or a related field. Candidates qualifying based on work experience must have the following skills: 3D Modeling and Texturing: Proficient in creating static mesh and dynamic character models, textures, and materials using industry-standard tools (Maya, Blender, ZBrush, Substance Painter, etc.). Animation & Rigging: Experience rigging and animating characters in both skeletal and facial animation setups. Unreal Engine 5: Strong proficiency in Unreal Engine 5, including asset integration, Blueprints, and gameplay scripting. Cloth and Hair Systems: Experience creating cloth simulations and strand-based hair in Unreal Engine 5 with a solid understanding of physics-based assets. Niagara FX: Ability to create complex and optimized particle effects using Unreal Engine’s Niagara system. Scene Lighting & Composition: Experience in scene assembly, optimization, and lighting within Unreal Engine 5. Quality Assurance: Solid understanding of FQA and PQA, with experience identifying and solving game design issues related to assets and performance. Collaboration & Communication: Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team, including artists, designers, and programmers.
