How much do software engineer site reliability engineer jobs pay per hour?

As of Aug 3, 2026, the average hourly pay for software engineer site reliability engineer in Louisiana is $54.51, according to ZipRecruiter salary data. Most workers in this role earn between $46.88 and $62.31 per hour, depending on experience, location, and employer.

What engineers make $300,000 a year?

Senior software engineers, site reliability engineers, and cloud infrastructure engineers often earn $300,000 or more annually, especially with extensive experience, specialized skills in areas like distributed systems or automation, and working at large tech companies or in high-cost-of-living regions. Achieving this level typically requires advanced knowledge of programming, systems architecture, and often certifications or leadership roles.

How much does an SRE get paid?

SRE (Site Reliability Engineer) salaries vary based on experience, location, and company size, but the average annual pay in the industry ranges from $100,000 to $150,000. Senior SREs with specialized skills in cloud platforms, automation, and monitoring tools can earn higher compensation, often exceeding $160,000 annually.

What is the difference between Software Engineer Site Reliability Engineer vs DevOps Engineer?

AspectSoftware Engineer Site Reliability EngineerDevOps Engineer
CredentialsBachelor's in CS or related, sometimes certifications in cloud or SRE practicesBachelor's in CS, IT, or related, with certifications in cloud, automation, or CI/CD tools
Work EnvironmentFocus on reliability, scalability, and automation within software development teamsBridge between development and operations, emphasizing automation, deployment, and infrastructure
Employer & Industry UsageTech companies, cloud providers, large enterprisesStartups, tech firms, organizations adopting DevOps practices

While both roles focus on automation and system stability, Software Engineer Site Reliability Engineers primarily ensure system reliability and performance, whereas DevOps Engineers focus on streamlining development and deployment processes. The roles often overlap but differ in their core focus areas and daily responsibilities.

What engineer makes $500,000 a year?

Senior or specialized Site Reliability Engineers (SREs) with extensive experience, advanced skills in automation, cloud infrastructure, and monitoring tools can earn $500,000 or more annually, especially at large tech companies or in high-cost-of-living areas. Achieving this level often requires a combination of technical expertise, certifications, and leadership responsibilities.

Will AI replace SRE jobs?

AI can automate certain tasks within Site Reliability Engineering, such as monitoring, incident detection, and data analysis, but it is unlikely to fully replace SREs. SREs will continue to be essential for designing systems, making strategic decisions, and handling complex issues that require human judgment and expertise. Skills in scripting, automation tools, and understanding of system architecture remain important for SREs working alongside AI technologies.
