These labs are typically designed to help participants develop practical skills, build their resumes, and make professional connections in their field. While there is no salary, interns often benefit from mentorship, access to resources, and potential academic credit. Participation in such labs can be valuable for those seeking to enter competitive fields or gain exposure to real-world research environments.
