Warehouse/Yard Associate

Job Summary: The Warehouse/Yard Associate is responsible for safely and efficiently loading building materials for customers while providing excellent customer service. This role also supports daily yard operations including receiving and unloading deliveries, organizing inventory, and maintaining a clean and safe work environment.

Pay for this Role: $15.50 - $17.00 per hour depending on experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Load and unload customer and contractor orders accurately based on invoices and tickets.
  • Greet customers, verify orders, and ensure materials are correct before loading.
  • Safely load customer vehicles and contractor trucks, ensuring proper handling and securement.
  • Receive and unload vendor deliveries; verify materials against purchase orders.
  • Organize, label, stock, and maintain inventory in designated locations.
  • Identify and pull materials listed on tickets and communicate shortages or issues.
  • Process and document returned materials and place in designated areas.
  • Operate forklifts and other equipment safely in accordance with company and OSHA standards.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the yard, sheds, and work areas.
  • Cut lumber and assemble materials as needed for customers or orders.
  • Assist customers with product selection and resolve issues professionally.
  • Follow all safety procedures and protect company property and equipment.
  • Perform duties in all weather conditions.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Desired Skills, Knowledge, and Qualifications:

  • Valid driver's license required.
  • Forklift experience preferred (or willingness to become certified).
  • Previous warehouse, yard, or building materials experience preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret invoices, tickets, and basic order information.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
  • Customer-focused with strong communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Self-motivated, organized, and dependable.
  • Willingness to learn building materials and product knowledge.
  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods (4–10 hours per day).
  • Ability to lift, carry, stoop, kneel, and crouch regularly, including lifting 50+ lbs.
  • Works outdoors in all weather conditions.
