Job description

Job Title: Building Porter

Location: Peekskill, NY

Job Type: Full-Time (40 hours/week)

Description:

We are seeking a reliable and hardworking Building Porter to join our team and maintain the cleanliness and appearance of a residential apartment building in Peekskill, NY. The ideal candidate will be proactive, detail-oriented, and dedicated to creating a clean and welcoming environment for our residents.

Work Schedule:

  • Hours: 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM, with a one-hour lunch break.
  • Work Week: This is a 40-hour per week position, Tuesday through Saturday.
  • Days Off: Sunday and Monday.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform daily sweeping and mopping of all common areas, including lobbies, hallways, and stairwells.
  • Manage building sanitation by transporting both garbage and recycling from the compactor room to the dumpster.
  • Conduct thorough cleaning of all common areas, including wiping down banisters, windows, glass surfaces, light fixtures, and doors throughout the building.
  • Perform floor buffing to maintain a clean and professional appearance.
  • Handle seasonal snow removal from sidewalks and entryways to ensure safety.
  • Handle basic lawnmowing and leaf-blowing responsibilities.
  • Maintain the cleanliness and tidiness of the building's laundry room.
  • Ensure all common areas of the building are consistently well-maintained and presentable. 

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in a similar role is preferred.
  • Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods. 
  • Strong work ethic and the ability to work independently.
  • Punctual and dependable.

Compensation and Benefits:

  • Salary: $960.40 per week
  • Benefits: This is a union position under the Local 32 BJ Service Employees International Union, which includes a comprehensive benefits package with medical coverage and a pension plan.
