Job description

Title:

Mission Systems Test Engineer

KBR's Mission Engineering Division delivers complex technical solutions and expert support to the U.S. Department of War, specializing in modeling and simulation, cyber transformation, air vehicle mission integration, and lifecycle support. As a trusted partner with a proven history in mission technology, KBR collaborates closely with clients to develop innovative and effective solutions. KBR is seeking a Mission Systems Test Engineer to support systems and software integration, test planning and execution, configuration control, and technical documentation efforts for the Navy's Advanced Sensor Technologies Program Office (AST PO). This position supports a fastpaced engineering environment and requires a highly motivated selfstarter with strong organizational and communication skills.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Apply engineering principles to enable effective development, integration, test, verification, production and sustainment of airborne and ground mission systems
  • Apply engineering experience to perform functions such as system level test in laboratory environments, assist in ground and flight test management and develop test concepts of operations for fleet use.
  • Integrate, test, develop, and recommend potential solutions for engineering and programmatic decisions in a test and evaluation environment.
  • Prepare and execute detailed test plans by providing subject matter expertise
  • Review and prepare engineering and technical analysis for reports, change proposals, trade studies, white papers, technology surveys and other technical documentation.
  • Coordinate with engineers, government, and contractors to ensure consistent and accurate configuration controls across various mission systems and artifacts. Implement configuration management best practices.
  • Develop, review, and maintain information assurance documentation required to obtain an IATT (Interim Approval to Test) and an ATO (Approval to Operate).
  • Ensure all activities comply with established information security and quality standards.

Basic Qualifications

  • Must hold an active Top Secret with SSBI security clearance.Must have completed a Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) within the past six (6) years or currently enrolled in the Continuous Evaluation (CE) Program.
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science, or a related technical discipline; or a minimum of 8+ years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Highly experienced using Unix/Linux environments
  • Experience with virtual machines or containerization technologies such as VMware and Docker
  • Working knowledge of computer networking concepts and technologies
  • Experience with scripting languages such as Python, Perl, and Bash.
  • Familiar with configuration management tools such as Git
  • Familiarity with configuration audits, version control branching strategies, and CM best practices
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products.
  • CompTIA Security+ Certification

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting military or government systems development programs
  • Development experience with compiled languages such as Java or C++
  • Unix/Linux systems administration experience
  • Experience integrating mission systems on airborne systems
  • Experience with development, coordination, and management of information assurance documentation required to obtain an IATT (Interim Approval to Test) and an ATO (Approval to Operate).

Additional Notes:

  • Applicant may be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
  • This position is accepting applicants but will not start work until ~June 1,2026.

Scheduled Weekly Hours: 40 hours/week.

Travel: 10%

Compensation: $145,600 - $175,000. The salary range posted is based on the national average. The offered rate will be based on the selected candidate's location, knowledge, skills, abilities, and/or experience, contract affordability, and in consideration of internal parity.

Additional Compensation: KBR may offer bonuses, commissions, or other forms of compensation to certain job titles or levels per internal policy or contractual designation. Additional compensation may be in the form of a sign-on bonus, relocation benefits, short-term incentives, long-term incentives, or discretionary payments for exceptional performance.
