Structural Maintenance

Job Summary
 

Lead the University's carpentry program. Build and maintain residential and commercial structures for University to ensure structural validity. Ensures inventory and equipment is recorded and up to date.

Responsibilities
 
  • Plan, prioritize, assign, train and review work activities of subordinate carpentry personnel, including ability to assist in their professional development through training, coaching and performance evaluation
  • Conduct framing and installation of doors, windows, walls, structural stabilization, moisture remediation and mitigation, roofing, roofing sub-structures, concrete preparation and finishing, metal and wood furniture fabrication, interior ceiling grids and ceiling tiles, flooring (carpet, ceramic tile and cove base systems), insulation applications, sheetrock installations/texturing and finishing, etc.
  • Write job-related materials such as work reports and records, accident reports, etc.
  • Responsible for initiating, developing, and completing preventative maintenance schedules to ensure all building structures are maintained at a constant state of readiness
  • Complete requisition forms and necessary materials are ordered for each assigned project
  • Receive and document all work tasks and work orders via electronic means
  • Direct all carpentry work that takes place within carpentry shop
  • Ensure compliance with safety codes
Required Qualifications
 

Educational Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent

Required Experience

  • Four (4) or more years of carpentry/construction experience
Preferred Qualifications
 

Preferred Experience

  • Six (6) or more years of carpentry experience
  • Two (2) or more years of carpentry or construction work experience in a higher education setting
  • One (1) or more years of commercial construction experience
  • One (1) or more years of Residential construction experience
  • One (1) or more years as a team lead of a construction job
Proposed Salary
 

$20.71 - $25.88 per hour

This is a non-exempt position paid on a biweekly basis.

  • Knowledge and experience in estimating material and labor costs
  • Knowledge and experience with application of International Builder Code (IBC), and State Fire Marshal safety codes
