Job description

We are looking for a customer-focused Universal Banker to join our team in Santa Barbara, California in a contract capacity with the potential for a permanent role. This position combines relationship-building, day-to-day transaction support, and new account expertise to help clients navigate their financial needs with confidence. The ideal candidate brings a service-first mindset, strong attention to detail, and the ability to connect clients with appropriate banking solutions while maintaining efficient branch operations.
Responsibilities:
• Build and strengthen client relationships by engaging customers in meaningful conversations and identifying opportunities to support their financial goals.
• Open new accounts and assist with banking products and services by matching client needs with appropriate solutions.
• Process routine and complex financial transactions accurately, including cash handling and teller-related activities, while delivering a welcoming branch experience.
• Guide clients on digital banking and self-service options to improve convenience and streamline everyday transactions.
• Recognize cross-sell and referral opportunities, then connect clients with the right branch partners or specialists when additional support is needed.
• Support lobby coverage and in-branch engagement efforts to create a responsive, service-oriented environment for every visitor.
• Follow branch procedures, compliance standards, and security protocols to protect client information and reduce operational risk.
• Balance assigned cash drawer and complete daily operational tasks with accuracy, sound judgment, and attention to established policies.• Previous experience as a Personal Banker, Universal Banker, or in a similar retail banking role with new accounts exposure is preferred.
• Strong customer service skills with the ability to build trust and respond professionally to client concerns.
• Experience handling cash transactions accurately and managing drawer balancing responsibilities.
• Working knowledge of banking products, branch operations, and client referral practices.
• Ability to listen carefully, assess client needs, and recommend appropriate banking services or escalate when needed.
• Comfortable using technology to explain digital banking tools and support client adoption of self-service options.
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively, adapt to changing priorities, and maintain confidentiality in a regulated environment.
