Job description

SUMMARY OF JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Exhibit customer service skills that enhance the lives of the residents and their psychosocial wellbeing

  • Promote resident dignity, privacy, and rights at all times

  • Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, eating, and mobility

    Provide safe transfers and ambulation using proper techniques and equipment

  • Reposition residents as needed to maintain comfort and prevent skin breakdown

  • Observe and report changes in residents’ physical condition, behavior, or mood to licensed nursing staff

  • Measure and record vital signs as assigned

  • Follow infection control procedures, including hand hygiene and use of personal protective equipment (PPE)

  • Ensure a safe, clean, and therapeutic environment for residents and staff

  • Follow facility safety policies to prevent accidents and injuries

  • Accurately document care provided according to facility policy

  • Communicate effectively with residents, families, and healthcare team members

  • Respond promptly to call lights and resident requests

  • Identify and report safety hazards, incidents, and accidents according to facility policy.

  • Participate in emergency drills and respond appropriately during emergencies.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION:

CNA Coursework with active CNA licensure

Dementia experience

LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION AND REGISTRATION:

CNA certification

BLS certification (CPR/First Aid)

EXPERIENCE:

At least one year of experience in acute care, home health care, or long-term care.

Previous dementia experience or education.

 

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

Ability to multi-task.

Able to communicate well with the senior population especially with dementia.

Excellent communication skills with team mates.

Demonstrates a high level of patience with the senior population.
