POSITION: Bus Driver
REPORTS TO: Director of Transportation
EMPLOYER: Mattawan Consolidated School
SUMMARY:
Mattawan Consolidated School bus drivers are the first and last face that many of our children see each day. Bus drivers follow a planned bus route, making scheduled stops to pick up or drop off students within the district.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Possess a current Commercial Drivers License B with P and S endorsement
  • Possess a current Department of Transportation physical card
  • Maintain continuing education certification for school bus endorsement
  • Experience working with children

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Transport students on a school bus to and from school
  • Regularly perform vehicle inspections and complete inspection report
  • Monitor student behavior
  • Ensures no sleeping passengers are on the bus after unloading
  • Working knowledge of the Transportation Operation Manual
  • Maintain clean interior and exterior of bus
  • Coordinates with Director of Transportation all safety concerns
  • Attends all staff meetings, team meetings and training as requested
  • Performs any other duties as assigned by the Director of Transportation

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Sitting, standing, lifting and carrying (up to 50 pounds), reaching, squatting, climbing stairs, kneeling, must be able to see and hear the entire classroom, and moving light furniture may be required.
SAFETY AND HEALTH:
Knowledge of universal hygiene precautions.
EQUIPMENT/MATERIALS HANDLED:
Must know how to properly operate or be willing to learn to operate all multimedia equipment including current technology.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
School bus, mechanic garage, and school environment
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
  • 10-month employee
  • Hourly Rate: $24.00
  • Hours: 5-6 hours/day
