Description

Moser Consulting is seeking a Senior Network Engineer to join our Network Engineering team within the Core Technologies practice, serving clients across Northern Indiana. This is a client-facing consultant role responsible for designing, deploying, and managing enterprise network and security infrastructure across a diverse portfolio of client environments.

Role Responsibilities

The successful candidate will work across multi-vendor platforms - including Cisco, Arista, Fortinet, Palo Alto, Meraki, and Aruba - while ensuring security, performance, and availability. Hands-on expertise with both Palo Alto Networks (PA-Series, VM-Series, Panorama) and Fortinet (FortiGate, FortiManager) is required. A strong foundation in Azure cloud networking and hybrid connectivity is also required, as many client environments span on-premises and public cloud infrastructure.

Key responsibilities include network design and implementation, firewall administration, wireless management, network security and compliance, performance monitoring, and maintaining accurate documentation. The role also involves mentoring junior engineers, collaborating with vendors for procurement and support, and working cross-functionally with other IT teams to ensure seamless client delivery.

This position requires the ability to work independently on complex problems while also contributing as a strong team collaborator in a fast-paced consulting environment. Candidates must be based in the Northern Indiana region and willing to travel to client sites as required. This position will also particiate in a team on-call rotation.

Requirements
  • Network Design & Implementation: Design and implement scalable enterprise networks; install and configure network hardware and software components
  • Layer 2/3 Protocol Expertise: Strong knowledge of HSRP, Spanning Tree, VPC, and DNS protocols
  • Routing Platforms: Cisco ISR, ASR, CSR, and Arista; experience designing and implementing BGP, EIGRP, and OSPF
  • Switching Platforms: Cisco Catalyst, Nexus, Meraki, Aruba, Fortinet, and Arista; proficient in configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting
    Wireless Platforms: Meraki, Cisco, Aruba, and Ubiquiti, Fortinet
  • Palo Alto Firewall (Required): Hands-on experience with PA-Series, VM-Series, and Panorama; security policy design, NAT, VPN, and threat prevention
  • Fortinet (Required): Hands-on experience with FortiGate and FortiManager; firewall policy management, SD-WAN, and FortiAnalyzer reporting
  • Network Security: VPN, ACL, DMVPN, IPsec, NAC, MAB, 802.1X, and encryption standards
  • Azure Cloud Networking: VNET, VNET Peering, Private Link, vWAN, ExpressRoute; hybrid connectivity and security best practice
  • Network monitoring and alerting with SNMP tooling
  • Advanced troubleshooting and root cause analysis across complex multi-vendor environments
  • Strong technical communication skills; able to convey complex topics to non-technical stakeholders
  • Accurate network documentation, diagrams, and configuration management
Preferred Skills
  • Fortinet NSE or Palo Alto PCNSE certification
  • CCNP or higher (Enterprise, Security, or equivalent track)
  • Mentoring experience with junior network engineers and support staff
  • Experience conducting end-user or team training on network topics
  • Cross-functional collaboration with system administrators and other IT disciplines
  • Advanced network security auditing and compliance frameworks (NIST, PCI-DSS, HIPAA)
  • Vendor collaboration experience for procurement and support engagements
  • Experience in a managed services or IT consulting environment
  • Kubernetes/Private Cloud networking fundamentals
