Position Summary:
The Junior High Minister (7th & 8th Grade) leads the vision, strategy, and ministry for 7th and 8th grade students. This leader creates environments where students encounter Jesus, build relationships, and grow in faith; recruits and develops adult leaders; partners with parents; and collaborates with the NextGen Team to help connect people to Jesus.

This role is ideal for someone who loves students, thrives on teams, develops volunteers, and builds relationships inside and outside the church.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the Junior High Ministry:
    • Provide vision, leadership, and oversight for all 7th & 8th grade ministry environments.
    • Plan and execute engaging weekly programming, including:
      • Jr High Bible Lab (Sunday mornings)
      • Jr High Worship (Sunday evenings)
    • Ensure programming is biblically sound, engaging, and relevant for junior high students.
    • Evaluate ministry effectiveness and pursue continuous improvement.
  • Recruit, Develop, and Shepherd Adult Leaders:
    • Build, equip, and care for a volunteer team of 30 adult leaders.
    • Recruit and onboard new volunteers throughout the year.
    • Provide coaching, encouragement, and regular communication to leaders.
    • Create a culture where volunteers feel valued, prepared, and empowered to disciple students.
  • Build Relationships with Students:
    • Develop authentic relationships with junior high students during and beyond church programming.
    • Be intentionally present at school events, athletic competitions, performances, and other student activities when possible.
    • Create opportunities for students to feel known, valued, and loved - by God and us.
    • Invest in student leaders and encourage spiritual growth.
  • Partner with Parents:
    • Encourage and equip parents as the primary disciplers of their teenagers.
    • Maintain consistent communication regarding ministry events, resources, and spiritual encouragement.
    • Build relationships with families through intentional conversations, follow-up, and pastoral care.
  • Plan Events and Discipleship Opportunities:
    • Lead the planning and execution of camps, retreats, service projects, outreach events, and special activities throughout the year.
    • Help students discover opportunities to serve within the church and community.
    • Create pathways for students to deepen their faith and engage in biblical community.
  • Collaborate with the NextGen Team:
    • Work closely with Kids Ministry, High School Ministry, and other church staff to provide a seamless transition through each stage of ministry.
    • Participate in staff meetings, planning sessions, and church-wide initiatives.
    • Contribute ideas and support the overall mission and vision of the church.
    • Foster unity and collaboration across departments.
