Job Title: Family Ministries Support Staff

Department: Family Ministries

Reports to: Kids Ministry Midweek Associate Director

Status: Part Time

Schedule: Sunday-Thursday | Variable Hours 10-19 hours

New Life Church's mission is to make disciples in the Pikes Peak region, by calling people to worship, connect and serve.

Position Overview:

This position supports the mission of New Life Church by creating a welcoming, safe, and Christ-centered environment for children. The Support Staff team plays a vital role in helping kids experience God's love by engaging with them through worship, play, conversation, and age-appropriate teaching. By fostering connection and demonstrating the heart of Jesus, this team member helps children learn about God and grow in their faith, while also supporting the overall rhythm of the family ministry team.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Welcoming, Christ-centered classroom environment where children can encounter God's love through worship, story, play, and meaningful connection.

  • Serve as a classroom teacher or assistant during Midweek and weekend services (Tuesday evenings, Thursday mornings, and Sunday mornings).

  • Greet families, check children in and out, and build trust through consistent, joyful interactions.

  • Facilitate curriculum lessons, activities, and worship response moments that draw kids closer to Jesus.

  • Maintain a calm, nurturing, and orderly classroom atmosphere.

  • Keep classroom spaces clean and safe during and after service, including sanitizing toys and surfaces and tidying storage areas.

  • Maintain and contribute to the cleanliness and organization of the support staff breakroom (Room 131), including restocking supplies as needed.

  • Support Family Ministries Team through tasks such as lesson prep, room resets, and special project support.

  • Participate in key Family Ministries events (e.g., Family Nights, Kids Camp, Desperation Conference).

  • Attend all required team meetings and be on time for all shifts.

  • Connect with your supervisor before leaving your shift to ensure all duties are complete.

  • Collaborate with the broader Family Ministries Team to foster a culture of unity and shared purpose.

  • Perform additional duties as requested by the Pastor, Director, or Coordinator to meet ministry needs

Education and Experience

Education: High School Diploma or GED preferred

Experience: 1-2 years of related experience

Working Conditions and Requirements

Physical Demands:

  • Regularly required to sit and occasionally required to stand and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Must be able to frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally life and or move up to 25 pounds.

  • Substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers. Close visual acuity to is necessary to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading.
