Baggage Service Agent (BMAS)

  • Assists passengers with claims for lost/damaged luggage.
  • May provide announcements to passengers explaining baggage procedures and offering assistance to the disabled when reaching the baggage claim area.
  • Remove unclaimed bags from carousel.
  • Stack unclaimed items onto baggage carts and into storage racks/shelves in secured areas. May be required to handle same items multiple times. Baggage could weigh between 33.3 lbs. and 75 lbs.
  • Track and reconcile all claims filed by customers.
  • Push/pull baggage cart using two hands and with forces between 51.4 lbs. and 70 lbs.

  • Occasionally twist and turn upper and lower back when retrieving/placing luggage from carousel or luggage storage area, and when retrieving items from printers at desk.

The above functions are normally performed within specific time constraints which are dictated by aircraft actual arrival and scheduled departure times. The failure to perform these functions may result in lost or damaged bags, delayed aircraft departure and risk to passenger and employee safety. The failure to perform these functions properly may result in serious injury to employees, damaged ground equipment and/or company aircraft.

*This job is subject to Department of Transportation (DOT) drug and alcohol testing. Your previous employers will be contacted to request previous DOT drug and alcohol records. Your DOT required urine specimen will be tested for the following substances: Cocaine, Marijuana, PCP, Amphetamines and Opioids.

  • Minimum age: 18
  • High school diploma, GED, or international equivalent
  • Possess a valid, unexpired and unsuspended driver’s license; some license restrictions may prohibit a candidate from qualifying for this position
  • Ability to work rotating shifts including days, overnights, weekends, holidays, and rotating days off
  • Flexible to work additional hours with short notice when operationally necessary
  • Must be able to carry, bend, lift and turn with bags weighing up to 75 lbs.
  • Must be customer focused, detail oriented, and interested about the airline industry
  • Able to communicate in a clear, polite, and friendly manner
  • Must be comfortable working with computers and ability to learn new computer programs
  • Must be able to read, write, fluently speak, and understand the English language
  • Authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship
