Job description

Overview:
Manages multiple teams and/or functions that are responsible for generating supporting analytics to senior and executive management in decision making for the organization or segments of the organization through performance measurement, analysis, reporting, budgeting, and strategic thinking.
Primary Responsibilities:
  • Directs managers and teams who are responsible for operations and projects relating to the financial status for the organization, major segments, or Bank-wide initiatives/functions.
  • Month-End Reconciliation: Reconcile Daily P&L with actual results and ensure completeness and accuracy of month-end and quarter-end reporting
  • Establish strong relationships across Business, FP&A, Data Product, and other functional teams to provide controller support
  • Participate in the development and implementation of Finance department goals, contributing to strategic decisions with an in-depth knowledge of multiple divisions as well as industry/competitor strategies.
  • Continuously seek opportunities to automate and improve processes; maintain and update procedures and documentation.
  • Leads a cohesive, high performing team. Continually coaches team members to develop their technical, analytical, and consultative skills in support of their ongoing career development. Attracts and retains talent.
  • Understand and adhere to the Company's risk and regulatory standards, policies and controls in accordance with the Company's Risk Appetite. Design, implement, maintain and enhance internal controls to mitigate risk on an ongoing basis. Identify risk-related issues needing escalation to management.
  • Promote an environment that supports belonging and reflects the M&T Bank brand.
  • Maintain M&T internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators as applicable.
  • Complete other related duties as assigned.

Supervisory/ Managerial Responsibilities:
Manages subordinate managers. Full supervisory, development of team through professional leadership. Possess ability to direct/persuade/influence across division and peers throughout the bank.
Education and Experience Required:
Bachelor's degree and a minimum 11 years' experience in finance, business or a related field with 4 years' managerial experience or in lieu of a degree, a combined minimum of 15 years' higher education and/or work experience with 4 years' managerial experience
Demonstrated experience in Financial Planning & Strategy
Demonstrated experience in designing, implementing and operating enterprise level financial performance measurement framework, managing profitability, short-term and long-term strategic planning with deep understanding of financial concepts
Experience in quality management and promoting process improvement
Strong leadership skills and maturity to build partnership with executive teams
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Strong organizational skills with demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and priorities
Thorough knowledge of the banking industry
Education and Experience Preferred:
Advanced degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business Administration
CPA/CFA certifications
CMA
Experience leading a business/P&L and large teams
Experience in financial planning and analysis, accounting, strategic planning with financial services industry
