Job Description
Essential Functions:
  • Perform a variety of tasks involving strenuous manual labor in highway construction projects; perform manual work in preparing equipment or vehicles for use
  • Conduct preventative maintenance as recommended on all equipment
  • Maintain a clean job site: pick up all tools and equipment and secure job site each day to eliminate potential hazards
  • Material handling and storage and shop work as assigned
  • Support the daily maintenance of all vehicles (Maintain fluid levels, fuel level and tire pressure)
  • Load and unload trucks; follow proper towing of trailer mounted equipment
  • Delivering material to job sites
  • Ensure proper safety and incident reporting procedures are followed. Notify Supervisor of any issues occur during work shift
  • Required to stand for an extensive period of time (+8 hours)
  • Wear Personal Protective Equipment required by federal, state, customer and company standards during work shift
  • Ability to communicate with customers clearly and in a professional manner

Qualifications
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Other Characteristics:
  • Valid driver's license
  • 18 years of age and older
  • Knowledge of proper use of equipment, materials and supplies used in heavy / highway construction work
  • Knowledge of first aid and applicable safety precautions
  • Ability to read and comprehend work orders and plans
  • Ability to lift, push, pull and carry +50lbs
  • Ability to work in various weather conditions
  • Clean insurable abstract
  • Ability to acquire and maintain DOT physical
  • Able to pass Drug testing
  • Able to pass Federal Background Check
  • Basic literacy: Ability to read, write and record routine data and information

Additional Information
  • Starting Rate $18.90 with the opportunity to move up in pay after 1,001 and 2,001 hours along with the opportunity to receive prevailing and state wage after training.
