Senior Software Engineer
Location: Jersey City, New Jersey (Onsite)
Employment Type: Contract
Contract Duration: 12 Months
Role Overview
A senior developer is sought to develop, enhance, and maintain an application for the Independent Price Verification process. This role involves working within a dynamic environment utilizing a modern technology stack, including Angular, REST APIs, Python, and Oracle. The position offers the opportunity to interact with senior stakeholders in a global markets finance group.
Key Responsibilities
  • Develop object-oriented software using Python, an object-oriented database, and grid computing on a proprietary platform.
  • Develop data transfer tools to replicate data from a NoSQL datastore to an Oracle (Exadata) database.
  • Build REST web services and design the interface between the user interface and the service.
  • Build a data-grid-centric user interface based on the Angular framework.
  • Participate in the full software development lifecycle within an Agile process.
Required Qualifications
Experience: A minimum of 6-10 years of overall technology experience is required. This includes 6-10 years of designing and developing in an object-oriented environment with any OO language (e.g., Java, C++, C#) and 6-10 years of designing and tuning SQL database tables and queries.
Technical Skills: 3-5 years of Python experience is required. Proficiency with Oracle and SQL is also necessary.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience across a range of languages and technologies, particularly C++/Java in addition to Python.
  • Familiarity with git, npm, and Angular (version 15.x or later).
  • Experience with grid computing and high data volume environments.
  • Background in test-driven development, functional testing, and continuous integration.
  • Experience working in an Agile process (e.g., pair programming, daily stand-ups).
  • Knowledge of the banking middle/back office or finance industry.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
