Job description

POSITION SUMMARY:
Assist the M&D Coordinator to produce new samples, PDM's and first article samples.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Must be able to read and comprehend the customers' construction specifications, patterns, edge margins, and seam allowances needed.
  2. Produce all required samples, PDM's, and first articles.
  3. Analyze patterns and specifications in order to produce samples.
  4. Perform daily preventive maintenance of equipment as assigned.
  5. Must learn the functions of all in-house sewing machines well enough to be able to sew the samples.
  6. Perform operator daily machine maintenance for all assigned sewing machines.
  7. Translate instructions both written and verbally on how the samples are to be constructed.
  8. Participate in production meetings.
  9. This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
  10. Perform other duties and responsibilities as required or requested.
  11. Support production and training floor operations as needed during intervals between M&D orders to maintain efficiency and team productivity.

MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:
To perform this job successfully, and individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed on the job analysis are representative of the skill, and/or ability required.
Education: High School Diploma or GED.
Experience: Five years in apparel or sewing products manufacturing industry and one year in management related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Specific Skills: Operation skills and knowledge related to apparel or sewn products manufacturing. Must be able to read and comprehend construction specifications. Have working knowledge of patterns, seam allowances and margins. Be able to operate all sewing machines in the facility and perform daily machine maintenance required.
Specialized Knowledge, Licenses, etc.: Knowledge of cellular or modular manufacturing is also helpful to include understanding of costing, specifications, pattern development and sample production.
Other Skills and Abilities: English proficiency required/ Spanish proficiency helpful. Effective oral and written communication skills required. Ability to use general office equipment (i.e. facsimile, photocopy, and/or related office peripherals). Proficient with Microsoft Excel and Word.
Physical Demands: Frequently sits, bends, kneels, and reaches out with hands/arms. Must be able to lift/move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift/move up to 25 pounds. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individual with disabilities to perform the essential functions
Work Environment: While performing assigned duties maintains awareness of moving equipment while monitoring and adjusting assignment to ensure finished product to specification. The employee is regularly exposed to a manufactory environment. The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles and vibration. May be exposed to loud manufacturing work environment.
