Job Summary:
As the Laborer, you will ultimately be responsible for supporting underground construction activities, installing conduit and cable systems, and restoring worksites following project completion. You will assist construction crews in executing daily field operations and deliver safe, efficient, and high-quality construction support. As the Laborer, your customers are internal construction teams, project managers, and telecommunications clients, and you will make meaningful contributions to the company's success through safe work practices, dependable field support, and quality workmanship.
Key Responsibilities (Including, but not limited to):
  • Assist in loading and unloading all equipment, materials, and supplies required for daily operations.
  • Safely operate tampers, jackhammers, core drills, concrete saws, and other miscellaneous construction equipment.
  • Hand dig with shovels, picks, and digging bars to expose underground utilities, access underground vaults and pedestals, and complete trenching activities.
  • Install conduit and/or cable in trenches, splice conduit sections (install couplers), place anchors, pedestals, vaults, and related underground infrastructure.
  • Restore worksites by refilling trenches and holes, tamping soil, replanting plants or shrubs, and applying temporary asphalt where required.
  • Drive company vehicles or operate construction equipment when appropriately licensed and authorized while maintaining company vehicles and equipment assigned for use.
  • Additional responsibilities within functional scope based on business needs.

Required Qualifications:
Education, Licensing, and Certifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Valid unrestricted Driver's License.
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen and Motor Vehicle Record (MVR).

Experience
  • Previous construction or outdoor labor experience preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of underground utility or telecommunications construction is preferred but not required.

Skills and Abilities
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with crew members, leadership, and clients.
  • Ability to function effectively as an integral part of a team.
  • Ability to safely lift and/or move 50-150 lbs. and stand or walk extended distances (1+ mile) over uneven terrain.
  • Ability to perform physically demanding work outdoors in varying weather conditions throughout the year.
  • Ability to safely perform duties in both standard and high-risk construction environments.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Previous experience and knowledge of underground utility construction.
  • Commercial Driver's License (CDL) preferred or willingness to obtain one.
  • OSHA Certification.

Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 150 lbs.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and perform physically demanding work for extended periods.
  • Work performed outdoors in all weather conditions, on uneven terrain, and in standard and high-risk construction environments.
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen and Motor Vehicle Record (MVR).
