Job description

Job Summary

The Floor Technician is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and sanitary environment throughout the hospital by performing floor care and general housekeeping duties. This role involves routine and project-based floor maintenance as well as support tasks such as waste removal and linen transport. The Floor Technician plays a key role in infection prevention and overall patient satisfaction.


Key Responsibilities
  • Perform routine and periodic floor care, including:
    • Buffing, burnishing, and polishing floors
    • Scrubbing and refinishing hard floor surfaces
    • Mopping, sweeping, and vacuuming various floor types
  • Operate and maintain floor care equipment (auto scrubbers, buffers, wet vacuums, etc.)
  • Collect and dispose of trash and regulated waste in accordance with hospital policies
  • Transport soiled linen and distribute clean linen as needed
  • Assist with spill clean-up and emergency floor care situations
  • Maintain equipment in clean and working condition; report any malfunctions
  • Follow infection control procedures and safety standards at all times
  • Support general EVS duties as needed, including cleaning patient rooms, hallways, and common areas
  • Ensure proper use of cleaning chemicals and supplies

Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Previous floor care or housekeeping experience preferred (especially in healthcare)
  • Ability to operate floor machines or willingness to learn
  • Basic understanding of cleaning chemicals and safety procedures
