Overview
Next 150 Construction is seeking a Construction Superintendent II. The Construction Superintendent II supports project field operations by assisting with the coordination of assigned trade contractors and field activities, ensuring work is performed in accordance with approved scope, safety requirements, quality standards, and schedule expectations. This role operates with limited supervision and supports daily planning, documentation, and execution activities.
Responsibilities
This role assists with safety enforcement, quality control inspections, and field coordination, and works closely with senior field leadership to support efficient, compliant, and well-organized jobsite operations.
- Coordinates assigned trade contractors and field activities to support adherence to approved schedules, budgets, and work plans
- Reviews and works in strict accordance with contract documents, drawings, and specifications for assigned scopes
- Remains informed of all assigned field activities and monitors work in progress to ensure compliance with approved work plans; maintains accurate daily field reports, safety documentation, and records using required construction management and safety operations systems
- Supports all field safety efforts; assists with safety orientations; conducts safety observations and audits; enforces safety and quality control policies within assigned scopes and escalates concerns to senior field leadership
- Attends and participates in project meetings as required to support coordination and communication
- Tracks production, labor hours, and productivity metrics for assigned scopes and reports variances
- Supports self-performance operations, workforce planning, and quantification of labor, materials, and equipment needs for assigned scopes
- Assists with forecasting labor and material needs and supports cost-of-work tracking as required; supports material procurement, delivery coordination, and site logistics activities
- Establishes and maintains credibility with Owners, trade contractors, unions, and field personnel through professional, fair, and consistent conduct
- Assists with onboarding and training activities
- Manages daily reporting, documentation, and cost tracking in finance and construction management software
- Assists in resolving jurisdictional disputes and field-level issues within assigned scopes
- Implements and supports sustainability and environmental compliance initiatives within assigned scopes
Qualifications
EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering or Construction Management
- 2-5 years of experience in a superintendent role on construction projects, 5-8 years construction experience
- OSHA 30 hour certified
- Or equivalent combination of education and experience
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
- Strong technical and communication skills
- Strong labor relations with union and non-union engagement
- Excellent organizational skills
- Ability to work in a team environment
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, safety and site operations software, and construction management software
- Knowledge of construction-documenting and drawing, with knowledge of all phases of construction
- Knowledge in all divisions of work, methods, materials, scheduling, cost control and forecasting
- Ability to create a "safety first" environment by showing a commitment to Zero Injury principles and sustainability practices
