About the Role

We are seeking a highly specialized Senior Design Engineer with deep expertise in EDA tool capabilities and design methodologies to join our ASIC development team. In this role, you won't just be using tools to design circuits; you will be the architect of our design environment, optimizing flows, and pushing the absolute limits of our software infrastructure.

Our company engineers ultra-specialized hardware dedicated entirely to executing cryptographic hashing algorithms at extreme speeds and maximum energy efficiency. You will play a pivotal role in bridging the gap between hardware design and tool automation, ensuring our specialized ASIC pipeline is perfectly tuned for next-generation cryptocurrency mining performance.

Key Responsibilities
  • EDA Flow Optimization: Own, develop, and maintain advanced digital and analog implementation flows, ensuring seamless integration of EDA tools across the design lifecycle.
  • Tool Capability Mastery: Act as the internal subject matter expert on Cadence ADE (Analog Design Environment) and digital implementation suites, optimizing tool configurations, variables, and features to maximize engineer productivity and silicon performance.
  • Physical Design Infrastructure: Drive and refine digital implementation flows utilizing Cadence Innovus or OpenROAD, focusing on floorplanning, placement, routing, and timing closure methodologies.
  • Automation & Scripting: Create, extend, and maintain robust automation scripts and internal tools using TCL, Python, BASH, and C to streamline design environments and eliminate manual bottlenecks.
  • Cross-Functional Support: Partner closely with analog and digital circuit designers to troubleshoot complex tool-related anomalies, license constraints, and flow failures.
  • Domain-Specific Alignment: Apply a foundational understanding of the Bitcoin ecosystem (including blockchain fundamentals and ASIC-boost protocols) to tailor design constraints and flow priorities toward cryptographic efficiency.
Qualifications
  • Education & Experience: Master’s or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field, backed by proven hands-on experience in the integrated circuit (IC) design industry.
  • Tool Expertise (Analog): Deep, comprehensive understanding of Cadence ADE architecture, environment customization, and tool capabilities (beyond standard circuit simulation usage).
  • Tool Expertise (Digital): Intimate, production-level familiarity with digital physical design tool flows, specifically Cadence Innovus or the OpenROAD framework.
  • Expert Scripting & Programming: Fluency in scripting and programming languages essential to EDA automation, including TCL, Python, BASH, and C/C++.
  • Domain Knowledge: Solid understanding of the Bitcoin mining ecosystem, cryptographic hashing constraints, and optimization techniques like ASIC-boost.
  • Problem Solving: A methodology-driven mindset with a passion for debugging complex software-hardware interactions and optimizing massive compute pipelines.
