Job Title: Bookkeeper – Civil Construction
Location: St. Charles, IL
Employment Type: Full-Time, Direct Hire
Pay Range: $75,000-$95,000
Work Schedule: Onsite, Monday through Friday

This pivotal role combines hands-on accounting management with strategic project support, ensuring our company’s financial health and operational efficiency.

In this high-impact position, you'll oversee full-cycle bookkeeping, manage project billing and costs, process union and certified payroll, and maintain precise financial records—all while collaborating closely with project managers and leadership. Your expertise will directly contribute to the seamless execution of our projects and the continued growth of our company. Required Skills:

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in bookkeeping or construction accounting
  • Strong knowledge of AIA billing, job costing, accounts payable/receivable
  • Experience processing union and certified payroll with compliance
  • Familiarity with lien waivers, retainage, change orders, and contract administration
  • Proficiency with ProContractor, Maxwell, and advanced Microsoft Excel
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects with precision

Nice to Have Skills:

  • Civil, commercial, or heavy highway construction accounting background
  • Support experience with project managers and construction operations
  • Knowledge of construction financial reporting and project lifecycle accounting
  • Experience in process improvement within accounting workflows

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field (preferred)
  • Over 3 years of relevant construction accounting experience
  • Prior use of construction-specific software tools is highly advantageous
