Job description

Position Summary
The Field Apprentice supports daily shop operations by helping maintain equipment, materials, vehicles, tools, and the overall shop environment. This role is intended to provide hands-on exposure to shop and field support work and may serve as a development path for future opportunities, including potential entry into affiliated union career paths, based on business needs, qualifications, performance, and available opportunities.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Load, unload, and clean trucks in a safe, timely, and efficient manner.
  • Gather, stage, and organize materials for current and upcoming projects.
  • Pick up and deliver parts, tools, and supplies as directed.
  • Maintain toolboxes, workstations, equipment areas, and shop grounds in a clean and organized condition.
  • Perform routine basic upkeep of shop equipment and vehicles, such as fueling and general readiness checks.
  • Help monitor shop inventory and notify management when tools, supplies, or equipment need to be replenished, repaired, or replaced.
  • Support shop and operations leadership with recurring and day-to-day tasks as assigned.
  • Follow company safety rules, operational procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.


Required Qualifications

  • Prior experience working in an industrial, construction, mechanical, or similar shop environment.
  • Experience loading, unloading, or handling equipment and materials safely.
  • Forklift/hi-lo experience.
  • Mechanical aptitude and comfort working with tools, equipment, and routine maintenance tasks.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, stay organized, and complete repetitive tasks consistently.
  • Strong work ethic, dependability, and willingness to take direction and assist where needed.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively with supervisors and team members.
  • Ability to receive feedback and adjust performance as needed.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience loading and offloading industrial equipment.
  • Chauffeurโ€™s license or CDL-A.

Driving Requirements

  • Must possess and maintain a valid driverโ€™s license. For duties that require driving, the selected candidate must meet Company and insurer driving standards and be eligible to obtain and maintain any license or endorsement required for assigned duties, including a chauffeurโ€™s license and/or CDL-A.
