We are seeking a skilled Mortgage Underwriting Trainer to design, implement, and manage training programs that support the development of our underwriting team. This individual will leverage proven instructional design methodologies and adult learning principles to ensure underwriters are equipped with the knowledge and skills necessary to assess mortgage applications accurately and in compliance with industry regulations. The ideal candidate will combine deep underwriting expertise with strong technical learning and development skills.

Schedule
  • This is a full-time, office-based position in a modern, cozy environment in our Troy, MI office.

  • Our standard working hours are Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM, promoting a healthy work-life balance.

Skills & Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, business, education, or a related field (preferred).

  • Certifications in instructional design or learning and development (e.g., CPTD, ATD, or similar) are a plus.

Experience:

  • 3+ years of experience in mortgage underwriting (e.g., NQM, FHA, VA, conventional loans).

  • 2+ years of experience in learning and development, instructional design, or corporate training.

Skills:

  • Proficient in instructional design frameworks, such as ADDIE, ROPES, and Bloom's Taxonomy.

  • Experience using learning management systems (LMS) and e-learning tools like Articulate, Captivate, or similar.

  • Strong project management skills to oversee training program development and execution.

  • Ability to design assessments that measure knowledge retention and application.

  • Exceptional communication, facilitation, and presentation skills.

  • Familiarity with adult learning theories and methodologies, including experiential and scenario-based learning.

Technical Knowledge:

  • Knowledge of underwriting software systems and compliance platforms.

  • Experience incorporating AI tools or analytics into training programs to monitor learner progress and outcomes.
