Job description

What you will do

This Senior Leadership role involves overseeing all commercial underwriting functions, quality assurance, and field underwriting execution. It includes managing underwriting education, identifying skill gaps, and facilitating discussions. The position also handles strategic underwriting referrals, collaborates on guidelines, monitors expenses, leads projects, and supports new product initiatives. Additionally, it reviews financial data to adjust rates and serves as a communication link between Enterprise Underwriting and regional teams.

Essential Functions: 

  • Direct oversight of the following:
    • Underwriting authority for all commercial underwriting functions within the company.
    • Quality Assurance Underwriting Program, and overall underwriting execution of the field underwriting teams.
    • Underwriting Education and training. Facilitates discussion between field operations and underwriting education on needs and expectations. Takes an active role in identifying skill gaps and certain training functions.
    • Strategic Underwriting team; manages the referral process for field underwriting.
  • Working in close collaboration with the line of business directors, is responsible for underwriting guidelines across all commercial lines along with  maintenance of the underwriting manual  
  • Helps manage Enterprise Underwriting expenses by monitoring usage with outside vendors, as well as internal process improvements.
  • Takes a leadership role in current and future underwriting projects.  Serves as underwriting SME in projects for other functional areas. 
  • Work directly with other areas of Enterprise Underwriting to support the needs of segments with new product/forms/book rolls, or other opportunities as they arise.
  • Review and analyze financial and loss experience information to assist in changes needed to rate/rules/guidance for the field.
  • Conduit of communication between Enterprise Underwriting and the regional underwriting teams.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Conforms with all corporate policies and procedures.

What you need

  • 8+ years of P&C Underwriting experience, including progressive leadership positions
  • 3+ years leadership experience
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration; Risk Management; or Finance preferred or equivalent experience.
  • Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter and Certified Insurance Counselor designations highly preferred.

Salary Range:

$190,000 - $233,000

**The final salary to be paid and position within the internal salary range is reflective of the employee’s work experience, their geographic location, education, certification(s), scope and responsibilities in the role, and additional qualifications.**

This position is bonus eligible.
