About The Role

The Junior Underwriter supports the underwriting team by reviewing, organizing, and validating loan files to ensure accuracy, completeness, and guideline compliance prior to full underwriting review. This role requires strong attention to detail, a sense of urgency, and a commitment to the Company's Core Values.

Essential Job Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Observable display of a sense of urgency in the execution of duties
  • Complete income calculations from bank statement help desk and provide completed income analysis to broker partners via Freshdesk
  • Review and scrub loan initial submission package - review and label documents such as credit reports, income documents, Fraudguard / Loansafe, bank statements, purchase contracts, title documents
  • Request missing required documents from our AE team via email
  • Review and confirm Encompass 1003 and encompass forms match broker credit report and documents
  • Confirm loan file perimeters meets program guidelines and matrix

Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business, Accounting, or a related field preferred
  • 1+ years of experience in mortgage operations (e.g., disclosures, processing, underwriting support, loan setup, or quality control) preferred
  • Basic understanding of residential mortgage loan products, documentation, and terminology
  • Experience working in Encompass or a similar Loan Origination System preferred
  • High school diploma required
  • Effective business writing, time management and organizational skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • Self-motivated with an ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to handle detailed assignments
  • Ability to prioritize workload while meeting deadlines
  • Ability to communicate in writing and verbally effectively
