Surety Underwriting Specialist

Marketing Statement: Philadelphia Insurance Companies, a member of the Tokio Marine Group, designs, markets and underwrites commercial property/casualty and professional liability insurance products for select industries. We have been in operation since 1962 and are nationally recognized as a member of Ward's Top 50 and rated A++ by A.M.Best. We are looking for a Surety Underwriting Specialist to join our team in either of the following offices: Seattle WA, Lonetree, CO or Alpharetta, GA!

Summary: Under limited direction, independently underwrites and markets assigned products by providing high levels of risk assessment and technical underwriting expertise to determine underwriting acceptability.

Typical Day
  • Prepares and participates in marketing activities for business development and relationship building
  • Participates in the producer management process which may include but is not limited to, premium collections
  • Prepares and participates in proposals to producers and/or accounts negotiating terms and conditions
  • Conducts analysis and applies appropriate underwriting techniques necessary to make an accurate evaluation of risk acceptability
  • Prepares underwriting submissions, making recommendations and/or decisions within established authority limits
  • May ensure credit quality of accounts managed while maintaining and updating underwriting files
Qualifications
  • Bachelorโ€™s degree; equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
  • Minimum 5 yearsโ€™ related Surety UW experience within P&C Commercial Insurance AFSB Designation preferred
